Compare and Contrast

Compare and Contrast (Beowulf)

There are many differences in the movie Beowulf and the book Beowulf that stood out to me. Usually when a book gets made, there is a movie but there are many differences and similarities. The movie seemed artificial and not believable in comparison to the book.

One difference between the book and the movie was that the book explained the actual story of Beowulf and his journey in much more detail. On the other hand it was very interesting to be able to see the movie, where as to when you read the story you have to do a lot of visualizing. I often pay a lot more attention when I can actually see the film for myself and not have to visualize it.

The movie (portrayed) Beowulf cut off his own arm so he could kill the dragon and also showed him ripping the dragon’s heart out. He died when he fell off the cliff with the dragon. This made it extremely different than the story. Beowulf is considered a heroic figure in the story because he protected the Danes from the beasts and in the movie he is portrayed more as a liar than a hero.
Here’s an example, he lies about the dragon being his son and having an affair with Grendel’s mother. This was never mentioned in the story. In the movie, Hrothgar is accused of cheating on wealthow with Grendel’s mother and letting her give birth to Grendel’s. In the movie Beowulf came to protect the country of the Danes he is mesmerized by Grendel’s mother’s beauty. However the story makes no mention of that either.

Never Will I Be Ashamed Of Where I Come From

I come from fast lanes to hanging out at night
Not coming home till off goes the street light
Hearing people say, Everday is not a good day
But just ask God and everyday will be a good day

I come from the rough streets of Worthdale
To the late night shootings to
The neighbors not able to get along
Because of one who has broken in
Not to many will be your friend

I come from Raliegh North,Carolina
Home Of The brave
To the shootings that have lead one to be dead
Not thinking before we react
To simply just not giving a crap
About anyone but there selves

I come from a hard head makes a soft a**
To not listening to my parents
To if you say the wrong thing
I will wash your mouth out with soap
you cuss again

I come from a Father who is oh so strict
To if you have a man i will do a background check
You may take me as a joke
But i promise you one thing I'll never forget my Brick

I come from a Mother who is the type of person
If you disrespect me
I will help you pack your bags
And send you on your way
I do not raise disrespectful kids

I come from the Sarah Kayed and Charles Perry
Who are My parents
To nowadays They barely get along
Why i don't understand (ma Why it always got to be the man)

I come from Not having a pot to piss in
To being a woman of my own
Never will i stand alone

I come From I will not tolerate this s***
To you will do as i tell you to
Or else you will suffer

I come from telling the truth
To doing what is told of me
To respecting my elders
Or their will be no fun

I come from a child to
Being a grown Woman
To moving on My own

I come from reading Zhane Books
To the story what's done in the dark will come to the light
To eating whatever was put on my plate
Making sure i was in bed by Eight

I come from i'm not
Ashamed of where i come from

The Devil and Tom Walker !

Tom Walker: Man full of misery, he mistreats his horse and hates his wife. Tom Walker is careless and does things without thinking of the consequences it may have. He is not a kind person, and argues alot with his wife. One can see on Tom’s clothes and body that he is miserable and his house too. When reading about this character the colors you may see turns grey and, light covered with darkness.

The Wife: She is tall and strong; she is very much a bad person. She will cheat her husband just as much as he would cheat her. She cares only for material goods and not for her husband’s health or welfare. She is overall greedy, and personally going to make a deal with the Devil as Tom Walker declines the Devil’s offer.

The story contains symbolism. One example is the trees in the wood. The trees symbolize the people in this world. One can look like a good person in the surface, but this may not be the truth about someone, and therefore many of the trees were rotten on the inside .

The story takes place some miles away from Boston, Massachusetts, in year 1727. The dark gloomy woods.

Tom Walker was a miserable man that cared more for money than his own wife. His horse was miserable, and so skinny that the naked eye could see the ribs clear as bars in an iron grid. Tom Walker and his wife were constantly arguing. One day Tom Walker found himself in the distant part of the neighborhood. And on his way home, he decided to take what he thought was a shortcut. He went through the gloomy woods, and quagmires.

As he came to one area that looked to have been an Indian stronghold, some years back. He stumbled over an old skull, with a tomahawk under it. Without thinking he gave the skull a kick. Suddenly a dark figure appears, it has red eyes staring at Tom Walker. Fearlessly he walked up to the dark figure. The man pointed at some trees, the one great tree there had a name on it; Deacon Peabody. It was rotten on the inside but neat looking on the outside, representing a person that seems like a good person on the outside but is truly rotten on the inside. It becomes clear to Tom Walker that this figure is the devil, or “Old Scratch”, The Devil offers a deal to Tom Walker, he would be rich all his life in exchange for his soul after death.

Now Tom Walker was not sure if this was a good idea or not so he went home to talk to his wife about it. She advised Tom to say yes and take the deal. But Tom Walker was not sure about it. The wife headed out to search for the devil and make the deal herself.Tom Walker sat out after his wife when he realized that she brought all their valuables. He found only her guts in a bag, instead of what he went out for. Soon after he found the Devil and made the deal with him. He got richer than he ever imagined, but he ran business the rest of his life in an unmoral way. Until the Devil one day stand at his doorstep ready
to take Tom Walker with him.

No Matter What I Will always Be There For you Winnie The Pooh And Friends .......

Winnie the pooh and friends displays many themes. One of them i remeber is  to have Friendship and Respect. I feel the author was trying to tell readers to always be Too your Friends. Winne The pooh and Friends have taught me to keep a postive thinking frame,Get along with everyone and ,Embrace your individuality.

One of my examples of embracing your individuality is There are so many wonderful things about Tigger, but what’s the MOST wonderful thing? That he’s the only one! Being different is great. Tigger is one-of-a-kind creature with a famously springy tail he acts on every impulse.

“If ever there is tomorrow when we're not together, there is something you must always remember.
You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think. But the most important thing is, even if we're apart I'll always be with you.”
